Charter Communications provides essential communications that connect more than 26 million private and commercial customers in 41 states. The company is ranked 74th in the Fortune 500 in 2018 in the list of the largest US corporations in terms of total revenue.
The company was founded in 1993 by Barry Babcock, Gerald Kent and Howard Wood, who were former executives of Cencom Cable Television in St. Louis, Missouri. As early as 1995, Charter paid $ 300 million for a controlling stake in Crown Media Holdings.
