Delta Air Lines, Inc. (“Delta”) is a major American airline. Together with subsidiaries and regional subsidiaries, the company has an extensive domestic and international network, which has (as of October 2016) 319 points of arrival in 54 countries on six continents. The regional service operates under the Delta Connection brand. Delta is one of four companies that formed the SkyTeam airline alliance and operates in partnership with Air France-KLM, Alitalia, Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia.
The company was formed as a small crop pollination firm under the name Huff Daland Dusters back in 1924 in Macon, Georgia. She then moved to Monroe, Louisiana and was renamed Delta Air Services, in reference to the nearby Mississippi Delta region, and began passenger service on June 17, 1929, with its maiden flight between Dallas, Texas and Jackson, Mississippi. Delta opens its corporate office at its current location in Atlanta in 1941 and continues to grow through the addition of routes and acquisitions of other airlines. The Monroe office continued to be the headquarters while Delta pollinated crops until 1966.
